The aim of this course is to provide specialised, practical training for audiovisual professionals seeking to develop their work through a sustainability-focused approach. The programme explores the role of the Sustainable Production Assistant, helping participants enhance their skills and learn how to implement sustainability measures tailored to the specific needs of each project.

OBJECTIVES
To gain an in-depth understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Sustainable Production Assistant.
To enhance the skills and professional capabilities of production assistants in Fuerteventura.
To learn how to implement sustainability measures adapted to the specific characteristics of each project, the locations available in Fuerteventura and the requirements of the script.
COURSE FEATURES
A training course designed for Sustainable Audiovisual Production Assistants (also known as Eco Assistants or Green Runners), aimed at developing the skills required to support sustainability management within film and audiovisual productions.
Primarily intended for production assistant profiles currently working in Fuerteventura.
The course provides specialised, practical training focused on developing audiovisual projects through a sustainability-oriented approach.
WORK TEAM
This proposal has been developed by GEA s.coop., a company specialising in environmental engagement through communication and participation.
We use strategies related to education, interpretation, mediation and communication to improve the impact people have on their environment, both locally and globally. Within this field, we organise, manage and deliver training programmes, design participatory processes and oversee their implementation, basing much of our work on dialogue, mediation and network building.
The team assembled by GEA s.coop. for the delivery of this technical assistance project consists of a coordinator and a support team drawn from the organisation’s professional staff. Below is a brief profile and summary of the qualifications of the project team:
Yanira Cáceres Arocha holds a Degree in Environmental Sciences (Autonomous University of Madrid), a Master’s Degree in Protected Natural Areas (UAM-UCM-UA-Europarc Spain and the Fernando González Bernáldez Foundation), a Teaching Qualification Certificate (UAX) and an Advanced Programme in Citizenship and Social Participation (ULL). She has over 15 years of professional experience in environmental sustainability projects, including formal and non-formal environmental education, socio-cultural programmes in natural environments, participatory processes, sustainability indicator systems and environmental project assessment.
Among the projects she has developed, the following are particularly noteworthy:
- · Instructor of the workshop course “Sustainability Manager for Audiovisual Productions” delivered for the Tenerife Film Commission and Fuerteventura Film Commission (2021, 2022 and 2023).
FFC Sustainable Production Assistant Course
- · Environmental consultancy services to promote sustainability within the audiovisual industry for the San Sebastián/Gipuzkoa Film Commission, including a participatory process, the drafting of a sustainability code of conduct and training activities (2020–2021).
- · Environmental consultancy and training support for the creation of a sustainable audiovisual productions certification scheme for the Tenerife Film Commission, including the drafting of the Sustainable Productions Code of Conduct and training activities delivered within the framework of the Canary Islands International Environmental Film Festival (FICMEC) (2018–2019).
- · Trainer and panellist specialising in sustainable audiovisual productions at a range of festivals and industry events, including FICMEC, the Sustainable Filming Workshop (European Green Screen Project), SEMINCI, Another Way Film Festival, Mallorca de Cinema, the 2nd Fuerteventura Environmental Film Showcase, the Gijón International Film Festival, the Lanzarote International Film Festival, El Festivalito de La Palma and the Canary Islands Rural and Ecological Film Week (2018–2023).
- · Technical manager responsible for environmental monitoring and assessment projects for major film and television productions including Exodus: Gods and Kings, Mine, Allied, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Museum, Foundation and 30 Coins (2013–2022).
