Fuerteventura Film Commission Trains Nearly Twenty Participants in Make-up and Hairdressing for Photographic Shoots

This was the first of the training workshops offered this year by the Fuerteventura Film Commission for professionals and individuals interested in starting a career in the audiovisual sector.

Nearly twenty participants completed training in Natural and Creative Make-up and Hairdressing for Photographic Shoots through the workshop programme organised by the Fuerteventura Film Commission. Participants received their certificates on Sunday, 16 June, during a ceremony led by the Councillor responsible for the area, Nereida Calero.

This was the first course delivered this year as part of the Film Commission’s ongoing training programme, designed to prepare professionals and newcomers for opportunities within the audiovisual industry. The initiative aims to support incoming productions efficiently while enabling companies to recruit skilled professionals based in Fuerteventura.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Fuerteventura Film Commission, a renewed training programme has been developed, featuring both brand-new courses and updated editions of existing workshops. This year’s make-up and hairdressing course focused specifically on photographic shoots. The workshop was delivered by María Digna, Jezabel de León and Talia Rodríguez, professionals with more than fifteen years of industry experience who have worked on major productions filmed in Fuerteventura, including 30 Coins, Exodus and Solo: A Star Wars Story.

María Digna highlighted the positive response the course has received in Fuerteventura, noting that this is the first edition specifically focused on photographic shoots, an area in which styling and aesthetics are among the most sought-after disciplines by photographers and audiovisual professionals.

According to Nereida Calero, training workshops are an essential part of the work carried out by the Fuerteventura Film Commission, “allowing us to provide the highest level of training on the island so that when productions arrive, we are able to welcome them and offer the professional services they require.”

“We will continue offering workshops throughout June, July and September, and we hope they will provide significant value to the audiovisual industry in Fuerteventura,” she added.

The island councillor encouraged anyone interested to take part in the upcoming courses, which include Sustainable Production Assistant, Screenwriting, Assistant Director, and Production Assistant training programmes.
