The Fuerteventura Film Commission and the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster are strengthening training opportunities in sustainable filmmaking through a collaboration agreement aimed at delivering specialised programmes that support the growth of the island’s creative and technical talent.
As part of this initiative, the Green Filming course will be held from 14 to 18 July, providing participants with the knowledge and practical tools required to implement sustainable practices within audiovisual productions.
This will be the first in a series of training programmes planned by the Fuerteventura Film Commission and the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster, in collaboration with OFF ESCAC, the professional training division of the ESCAC – Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya.
According to Nereida Calero, Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission, sustainable filmmaking is becoming an increasingly important area within the audiovisual industry.
“With this new initiative, we are reinforcing our commitment to developing new professional profiles aligned with ecological transition policies and environmental responsibility,” she explained.
The course will take place in Room B of the Fuerteventura Training and Conference Centre. Registration is already open through the following link:

Classes will run from Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a tutorial session on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The programme will be delivered in person by Yanira Cáceres and is open to participants aged 16 and over who hold European nationality or legal residency in Spain.
Participation is free of charge. However, students are required to pay a €50 deposit, which will be fully refunded provided they attend at least 80% of the course sessions and successfully complete the programme as assessed by the teaching staff.
Upon completion, participants will receive an official certificate issued and signed by the ESCAC Directorate.
The initiative forms part of the OFF ESCAC programme, which aims to bring high-level audiovisual training to different territories. The programme is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the ICAA (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts) and the European Union’s Next Generation Funds.
