The Fuerteventura Film Commission has launched a new Advanced Animation Course, organised by the Omotenashi Sociocultural Association. Fifteen participants are already attending the programme at Maxocrearte School in Puerto del Rosario, where they are developing their knowledge of animation through training in 2D animation, 3D animation and artificial intelligence applications.
The course runs for six months and covers a wide range of subjects, including the 12 Principles of Animation, basic modelling, character creation, drawing, scriptwriting, scene composition and other disciplines related to audiovisual production.
The teaching team is led by Tenesor Cruz Niesvaara and Robin Socorro Erikson, both highly experienced professionals in the audiovisual arts.
Cruz has received awards including Best Director at CineMadrid and has participated in productions such as Crayola and Braces for Cleo, the latter being a Spanish Television series currently available on HBO. Socorro is recognised for his work on the pilot project Pink Noise and for his expertise in advanced animation techniques.
According to Nereida Calero, Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission, the programme represents βan excellent opportunity for participants to specialise in highly sought-after professional profiles through a free training initiative made possible by the collaboration between the Fuerteventura Film Commission and the Omotenashi Sociocultural Association.β
Among the course objectives are the introduction of anime-style animation techniques, the integration of artificial intelligence tools to explore how emerging technologies can optimise and enrich creative processes, and specialised training in the use of Blender for both 2D and 3D animation.
To further enhance the learning experience, the programme will feature guest appearances from professional artists working in the industry, who will deliver talks and practical exercises designed to help students develop a final demo reel showcasing the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the course.
