Fiming in La Oliva

The municipality of La Oliva occupies the northern part of Fuerteventura and is home to some of the island’s most popular destinations, including Corralejo and El Cotillo.

In addition to its outstanding beaches, La Oliva boasts several protected natural areas, including the Corralejo Natural Park, famous for its extensive sand dunes, Lobos Island Nature Reserve, and Tindaya Mountain, one of the most iconic landmarks in Fuerteventura.

The municipality does not currently have a specific ordinance regulating audiovisual productions and filming activities.

Applications for filming permits within the municipality must be submitted directly to La Oliva Town Council, either in person or electronically, using the official application form provided.

Applicants must also submit detailed information regarding the proposed filming activity, including:

  • Filming dates
  • Exact filming location(s) and GPS coordinates
  • Technical equipment involved
  • Number of cast and crew members participating in the production

Providing complete and accurate information will help facilitate the permit application process and ensure the proper coordination of filming activities within the municipality.

The Municipality of La Oliva charges a filming fee for any audiovisual activity carried out in either public or private spaces within its jurisdiction.

Filming Fee: €450.76 per filming day.

Applications must be submitted through the General Registry and may be filed using one of the following methods:

  • In person at La Oliva Town Hall or the Deputy Mayor’s Office in Corralejo (individual applicants only).
  • Through the municipal website: www.laoliva.es, via the Electronic Registry.
  • Through the Electronic Office (Sede Electrónica). Select “SEDE ELECTRÓNICA” and then “REGISTRO TELEMÁTICO”.
  • Through the ORVE electronic registration system.

Applicants must provide:

  • Identification details of the company or organisation.
  • Articles of Incorporation and documentation proving legal representation.
  • Detailed specification of the filming locations, as the relevant authority must verify jurisdiction where other public administrations may be involved.
  • Information regarding technical equipment and materials to be used, including vehicles, cameras, tripods and any other production equipment.
  • Valid Public Liability Insurance.

Please note that, pursuant to Article 3 of Fiscal Ordinance No. 21 (Official Provincial Gazette, 03/03/1995), the applicable filming fee is €450.76 per filming day.

If filming takes place within protected natural areas, prior authorisation from the Cabildo de Fuerteventura is mandatory.

This requirement applies to:

  • Corralejo Natural Park (Dunes)
  • Lobos Island
  • Tindaya Mountain
  • Malpaís de la Arena
  • Vallebrón

Applications for these areas require a favourable report from the Department of the Environment of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura.
