Fuerteventura has made a triumphant debut on cinema screens across the United States with the release of “American Star”, a feature film shot entirely on the island, further reinforcing its reputation as a world-class natural film set for international productions.

The premiere of “American Star” marks another milestone highlighting Fuerteventura’s ongoing appeal to major film productions, strengthening its international standing as a unique cinematic destination. The Fuerteventura Film Commission, led by Nereida Calero, played a key role in facilitating and attracting this production to the island. The film is also scheduled for release in the United Kingdom on 23 February.

The story of “American Star” follows a seasoned hitman on his final assignment in the picturesque setting of Fuerteventura, portrayed by Ian McShane (Deadwood, John Wick). Directed by acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Gonzalo López-Gallego, the film explores what happens when the assassin, instead of following protocol, becomes captivated by the island, its people and a mysterious shipwreck.
