The exhibition has found a permanent home at the lighthouse following its successful tour of all six municipalities and Fuerteventura Airport, where it attracted more than 3,000 visitors.
The “Fuerteventura, A Natural Film Set” exhibition, organised by the Fuerteventura Film Commission, can now be visited at the facilities of La Entallada Lighthouse in the municipality of Tuineje, thanks to a collaborative initiative between the Film Commission and Museums of Fuerteventura.
After touring all six municipalities of the island and spending four months at Fuerteventura Airport, where it was visited by more than 3,000 people, the exhibition has now been permanently installed at La Entallada Lighthouse with free public access.
The lighthouse is one of the most popular sites within the island’s museum network and welcomes approximately 200 visitors per day, making it an ideal location for the exhibition to continue reaching both residents and tourists.
“Fuerteventura, A Natural Film Set” was originally launched in September as part of the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the Fuerteventura Film Commission. The exhibition offers a journey through some of the most significant productions filmed on the island and showcases a lesser-known side of filmmaking through a collection of exclusive behind-the-scenes still photographs captured during productions by professional set photographers responsible for documenting the filming process.
According to Nereida Calero, Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission, “after generating considerable interest during its tour of all six municipalities and throughout its four-month stay at Fuerteventura Airport, the exhibition is now being displayed in one of the most unique and iconic locations in the Canary Islands: La Entallada Lighthouse. This will allow even more residents and visitors to discover the exhibition and the audiovisual history of our island.”
The exhibition also serves as a tribute to the audiovisual sector, whose dedication and commitment have helped establish Fuerteventura as one of the world’s leading natural film locations.
In recent years, the island has hosted major international productions including Wonder Woman 1984, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, Allied and Marvel’s Eternals, among many others. National productions filmed in Fuerteventura include 30 Coins, The Lighthouse of the Orcas, 4L, Solo, Milk Men, Rendir los Machos and The Traveller.
