Screenwriters from the Third Edition of IsLABentura Visit Fuerteventura

Esther Fernández and Daute Campos are seeking inspiration for their stories set on the island of Fuerteventura.

The Fuerteventura Film Commission has welcomed screenwriters Esther Fernández and Daute Campos, participants in the third edition of IsLABentura Canarias. This international initiative focuses on the development of screenplays inspired by the stories, culture and locations of the Canary Islands.

The writers will remain on the island until Friday, immersed in research and location scouting to gather inspiration for their respective projects. Accompanied by experienced mentor Yolanda García Serrano, winner of a Goya Award for Best Screenplay, they will explore Fuerteventura in search of elements that can enrich and strengthen their scripts.

Councillor Nereida Calero welcomed the participants and highlighted the continued collaboration of the Fuerteventura Film Commission with this prestigious laboratory, which helps increase the island’s visibility within the audiovisual industry.

Esther Fernández is developing A Victorian Lady in Tindaya, a feature film set in 1887 that follows the journey of British journalist Olivia Stone through Fuerteventura. Meanwhile, Daute Campos is working on Dynamite, a television series that follows Luismi’s experiences during Carnival, exploring themes of creativity and sexual identity.

IsLABentura Canarias is an initiative of the Government of the Canary Islands, organised in collaboration with PROEXCA and the seven island councils. Its aim is to encourage the creation of film and television screenplays connected to the Canary Islands. Selected writers work alongside a team of industry professionals to develop their projects, with local support from organisations such as the Fuerteventura Film Commission.
