The Cabildo of Fuerteventura congratulates the educational centres that have received awards at regional level in the 11th edition of the Cinedfest Educational Film Festival. Following an initial awards ceremony held at the Fuerteventura Island Auditorium, where prizes were presented at island level, the Canary Islands section awards were subsequently presented in Tenerife. Among the winners were IES Corralejo, IES Puerto Cabras–Rafael Báez, and CEIP Valles de Ortega.
Today, IES Corralejo received the Second Prize for Diversity and Inclusion for its short film For You, We Do Take the Plunge, while IES Puerto Cabras–Rafael Báez was awarded the Social Issues Award for Nautae, a short film that had also been recognised as Best Short Film in Fuerteventura at Cinedfest.
Fuerteventura also stood out in the acting categories, with Imran Koné, a student from IES Puerto Cabras–Rafael Báez, receiving the award for Best Secondary School Actor in the Canary Islands.
Yesterday, CEIP Valles de Ortega received the Best Comedy Short Film Award in the Canary Islands for The Teacher Has Disappeared!.
The President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, and the Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission, Nereida Calero, expressed their appreciation for the participation of the fifteen schools from Fuerteventura that helped make this edition of Cinedfest a record-breaking success. A total of 400 students were introduced to audiovisual storytelling and developed their own film projects, competing alongside more than 500 short films from across the Canary Islands.
