The awards were presented by <span class=\"s1\"><b>Nereida Calero<\/b><\/span>, Councillor responsible for the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span>, accompanied by <span class=\"s1\"><b>Luis Gonz\u00e1lez<\/b><\/span>, Councillor for Sports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span> facilitated the participation of approximately <span class=\"s1\"><b>400 students<\/b><\/span> from fifteen educational centres, who have been receiving training since January. \u201cThis is a record level of participation in a festival whose objective is to bring the world of cinema closer to schools and help students become familiar with cinematic language,\u201d said Nereida Calero during the ceremony. She thanked all participating schools and congratulated the students, teachers and families for their dedication and hard work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <span class=\"s1\"><b>Cabildo of Fuerteventura Award for Best Short Film<\/b><\/span> was presented to <span class=\"s1\"><b>IES Puerto Cabras\u2013Rafael B\u00e1ez<\/b><\/span> for <span class=\"s1\"><i>Nautae<\/i><\/span>. The short film will represent Fuerteventura at the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Cinedfest Grand Final<\/b><\/span>, which will take place on <span class=\"s1\"><b>20 June<\/b><\/span> in Tenerife. Second and third place awards for Best Short Film went to <span class=\"s1\"><i>Disconnect: Beyond the Screens<\/i><\/span> by <span class=\"s1\"><b>IES La Oliva<\/b><\/span> and <span class=\"s1\"><i>The Teacher Has Disappeared!<\/i><\/span> by <span class=\"s1\"><b>CEIP Valles de Ortega<\/b><\/span>, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The <span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Cinematography Award<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> was presented to <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>The Failure of Will<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>EA Fuerteventura<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">), while the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Director Award<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> went to <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Carmen Irene Hern\u00e1ndez<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>For You, We Do Take the Plunge<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>IES Corralejo<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">). The <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Screenplay Award<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> was awarded to <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>The Teacher Has Disappeared!<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>CEIP Valles de Ortega<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The awards for <span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Actor<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Actress<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> were presented to <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Imran Kon\u00e9<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for his performance in <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>Nautae<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>IES Puerto Cabras\u2013Rafael B\u00e1ez<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">) and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Alice Corinnegeorgia<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for her role in <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>Gossip at School<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>IES La Oliva<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In addition, Cinedfest awarded its special <span class=\"s1\"><b>\u201cIsland of Fuerteventura\u201d Mention<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>\u00c1gueda Margarita Cabrera<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>For You, We Do Take the Plunge<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>IES Corralejo<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">). The <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Animation Award in the Infant and Primary Education Category<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> went to <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>Sea Popcorn \u2013 You Can\u2019t Take It Away!<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> by <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>CEIP Lajares<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Cinedfest<\/b> is an educational and cultural initiative created in the Canary Islands under the direction of filmmaker <span class=\"s1\"><b>David C\u00e1novas<\/b><\/span> and composer <span class=\"s1\"><b>Antonio Hern\u00e1ndez<\/b><\/span>. Over the years, the festival has evolved into a national event that now attracts short films from countries such as <span class=\"s1\"><b>Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The festival is supported by the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Government of the Canary Islands<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Cabildo of Tenerife<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Cabildo of Gran Canaria<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Cabildo of Fuerteventura<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> through the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Cabildo of La Palma<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Canary Islands Institute for Equality<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna City Council<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>DISA Foundation<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, and the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>SGAE Foundation<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Since the beginning of the year, the programme has provided students with fundamental audiovisual storytelling skills and the tools needed to create their own fiction and documentary short films, covering every stage of production from the initial idea through scriptwriting, pre-production, filming and editing. In Fuerteventura, students were able to develop their projects using equipment and resources provided by the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A total of <span class=\"s1\"><b>528 short films<\/b><\/span> were submitted to the competition nationwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">The educational centres from Fuerteventura participating in the <span class=\"s1\"><b>11th edition of Cinedfest<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> were <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>CEIP Valles de Ortega, Lajares, Puerto del Rosario, Pablo Neruda, Gran Tarajal and Tuineje<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">; <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>IES San Diego de Alcal\u00e1, Puerto del Rosario, Santo Tom\u00e1s de Aquino, Jand\u00eda, La Oliva, Corralejo and Puerto Cabras\u2013Rafael B\u00e1ez<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">; as well as <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>CEPA Fuerteventura<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>EA Puerto
