Filming is taking place over a five-week period, involving 280 local extras<\/b><\/span> and generating an estimated one million euros in economic impact<\/b><\/span> for the island.<\/p>\n

Since 26 August<\/b><\/span>, Fuerteventura has been hosting the filming of the feature film Playa de Lobos<\/b><\/span>. Directed by Javier Veiga<\/b><\/span>, the production is being shot entirely on the island through to the end of September, with filming locations spread across the municipalities of Antigua, P\u00e1jara, Puerto del Rosario, La Oliva<\/b><\/span> and Betancuria<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The five-week shoot employs 280 extras recruited through a casting process held on the island<\/b><\/span>, incorporates members of Fuerteventura\u2019s local technical crew, and is expected to generate approximately \u20ac1 million<\/b><\/span> in direct investment for the island\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s main location is Playa de la Guirra<\/b><\/span> in Caleta de Fuste<\/b><\/span>, within the municipality of Antigua. The set was visited by Lola Garc\u00eda<\/b><\/span>, President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Nereida Calero<\/b><\/span>, Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span>, and Agust\u00edn Rodr\u00edguez<\/b><\/span>, Councillor of Antigua Town Council.<\/p>\n

Additional filming locations include the Corralejo Dunes Road<\/b><\/span> and Corralejo Harbour<\/b><\/span> in La Oliva, the town of Betancuria<\/b><\/span>, as well as private locations in Tef\u00eda<\/b><\/span> and Costa Calma<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Like previous productions such as American Star<\/i><\/span> and Solo<\/i><\/span>, Playa de Lobos<\/i><\/span> is being filmed entirely in Fuerteventura. According to Nereida Calero<\/b><\/span>, the production has benefited from the support, advice and logistical coordination provided by the Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Calero added that \u201cfilm productions represent a major opportunity for the diversification of the local economy, generating investment and employment in Fuerteventura, as Playa de Lobos<\/i><\/span> is doing.\u201d She continued: \u201cThis is why we remain committed to supporting the development of the audiovisual industry while ensuring full respect for our territory and landscapes, which are precisely what filmmakers seek when choosing Fuerteventura as a natural film set.\u201d<\/p>\n

Playa de Lobos<\/i> is a co-production between <\/span>Medio Lim\u00f3n<\/b><\/span>, <\/span>Zebra Producciones<\/b><\/span> and <\/span>EPOS<\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film tells the story of two completely different men who meet at sunset in a beach bar overlooking the Islote de Lobos<\/b><\/span>. Manuel<\/b><\/span> and Klaus<\/b><\/span> \u2014 an Andalusian and an Argentine \u2014 have about as much in common as a traditional M\u00e1laga tavern and a Patagonian steakhouse.<\/p>\n

Manuel works at the beach bar, while Klaus is a tourist who has no intention of leaving his sun lounger. From this seemingly trivial disagreement emerges the absurd conflict at the heart of the story: one man wants to finish work and go home to sleep, while the other simply wants one last beer and to remain lying beneath the moonlight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
