This festival category places the island at the centre of the competition, promoting Fuerteventura as a unique filming location and encouraging filmmakers to use its landscapes as the backdrop for their short films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This year, the award is sponsored by acclaimed filmmaker <span class=\"s1\"><b>Javier Fesser<\/b><\/span>, who is exclusively launching <span class=\"s1\"><b>Depredador<\/b><\/span>, his first <span class=\"s1\"><i>Notodoserie<\/i><\/span> created for Notodofilmfest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The presentation took place today with the participation of <span class=\"s1\"><b>Lola Garc\u00eda<\/b><\/span>, President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura; <span class=\"s1\"><b>Nereida Calero<\/b><\/span>, Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission; filmmaker <span class=\"s1\"><b>Javier Fesser<\/b><\/span>; and actress <span class=\"s1\"><b>Athenea Mata<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Told across three episodes, <span class=\"s1\"><i>Depredador<\/i><\/span> follows the story of <span class=\"s1\"><b>Vilma<\/b><\/span> and <span class=\"s1\"><b>Cris<\/b><\/span>, two friends who encounter the unexpected while travelling through a remote and desolate landscape.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The cast is led by <span class=\"s1\"><b>Athenea Mata<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Claudia Fesser<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Maggie Balance<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Pepe Jordana<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Elisa D\u00edaz<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, who bring to life the characters of this new production from <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Pel\u00edculas Pendelton<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">From today, <span class=\"s1\"><b>17 September<\/b><\/span>, all three episodes of <span class=\"s1\"><i>Depredador<\/i><\/span> are available to watch in full on the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Notodofilmfest YouTube channel<\/b><\/span> and through the festival\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/leCyjAA6g5o?si=idYdBy_iEps9VpIf\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The series was filmed in <span class=\"s1\"><b>August<\/b><\/span> in the municipality of <span class=\"s1\"><b>La Oliva<\/b><\/span>, using Fuerteventura as an exceptional cinematic setting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, <span class=\"s1\"><b>Lola Garc\u00eda<\/b><\/span>, thanked <span class=\"s1\"><b>Javier Fesser<\/b><\/span> for his participation as ambassador of the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Natural Film Set Award<\/b><\/span> within <span class=\"s1\"><b>Notodofilmfest<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cNotodofilmfest is one of the most important showcases for audiovisual creators, reaching more than <span class=\"s1\"><b>20 million viewers every year<\/b><\/span>. Through the collaboration with the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span>, the award seeks to encourage audiovisual creation while making the island\u2019s unique landscapes available to filmmakers. Javier Fesser\u2019s involvement not only raises the profile of the competition, but also helps strengthen this important industry on the island,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Councillor responsible for the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Film Commission<\/b><\/span>, <span class=\"s1\"><b>Nereida Calero<\/b><\/span>, also expressed her gratitude to Javier Fesser for sponsoring this edition of the award.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cHis presence will help us showcase everything he discovered while filming in Fuerteventura during July and August,\u201d said Calero, who also encouraged filmmakers and creators to participate in the competition, \u201cusing this extraordinary island as their filming location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">For his part, <span class=\"s1\"><b>Javier Fesser<\/b><\/span> explained that \u201clocations are usually places you arrive at in search of something you have already written. In this case, however, the story emerged from what the island itself inspired.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Referring to the miniseries format, he described the project as \u201ca fascinating creative experiment, driven by an enormous desire to make cinema and by the opportunity to take full advantage of everything the location offered us. The island became an essential part of the story, full of light, colour and the sound of the wind, all of which give personality to what we are telling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Actress <span class=\"s1\"><b>Athenea Mata<\/b><\/span> also praised the experience of filming in Fuerteventura, describing the island\u2019s landscapes as \u201chighly inspiring and fundamental in developing an intense screenplay that allowed us to achieve a very special energy. We are extremely grateful to Fuerteventura for the time we spent here.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Film Commission Award<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">All short films shot in Fuerteventura are eligible to compete for the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura Natural Film Set Award<\/b><\/span>, which carries a <span class=\"s1\"><b>\u20ac1,000 prize<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The initiative aims to promote stories that highlight the richness and diversity of the island. While the theme is entirely open, the film must be shot in <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura<\/b><\/span>. The deadline for submissions is <span class=\"s1\"><b>Thursday, 10 October 2024, at 12:00 noon (Spanish mainland time)<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Short films entered in this category are also eligible for the general awards presented by <span class=\"s1\"><b>Notodofilmfest<\/b><\/span>. There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted, provided that all works are original, have a maximum running time of <span class=\"s1\"><b>three and a half minutes<\/b><\/span>, and include <span class=\"s1\"><b>English subtitles<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"s1\"><b>About Javier Fesser<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Javier Fesser<\/b> is one of Spain\u2019s most acclaimed film directors and screenwriters. His distinctive style combines surreal humour with social commentary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Among his most celebrated works is <span class=\"s1\"><i>Camino<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (2008), which earned six <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Goya Awards<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, including <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Film<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Director<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Best Original Screenplay<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.
