Directed by <span class=\"s1\"><b>Jos\u00e9 Alay\u00f3n<\/b><\/span>, the film is a <span class=\"s1\"><b>100% Canary Islands production<\/b><\/span> created by <span class=\"s1\"><b>El Viaje Films<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The cast is made up largely of first-time and non-professional actors, most of whom are real <span class=\"s1\"><b>Canarian wrestlers<\/b><\/span>, selected through a twelve-month casting process led by <span class=\"s1\"><b>Cendrine Lapuyade<\/b><\/span>. The production also involved <span class=\"s1\"><b>400 local extras from Fuerteventura<\/b><\/span>, helping to capture the authenticity, spirit and strength of the island\u2019s community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Filming took place between <span class=\"s1\"><b>February and March 2024<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> across a range of locations in the municipalities of <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Puerto del Rosario<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>P\u00e1jara<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Tuineje<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Antigua<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Until now, cinema has rarely explored in depth the world surrounding <span class=\"s1\"><b>Canarian wrestling<\/b><\/span>, the archipelago\u2019s traditional sport. As a result, the premiere of <span class=\"s1\"><i>La Lucha<\/i><\/span> has become an important showcase for the promotion of both <span class=\"s1\"><b>Canarian and Majorero identity and culture<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">To mark the occasion, the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Government of the Canary Islands<\/b><\/span> organised a live exhibition of Canarian wrestling on <span class=\"s1\"><b>Zurriola Beach<\/b><\/span>, located opposite the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Kursaal Congress Centre and Auditorium<\/b><\/span>, one of the main venues of the festival. The event introduced audiences and industry professionals attending the festival to one of the Canary Islands\u2019 most distinctive cultural traditions.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery
