The story follows the journey of an astronaut lost in the desert.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The production has received support from the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA)<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Government of the Canary Islands<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Cabildo of Tenerife<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Department of the Environment of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, and the municipalities of <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Puerto del Rosario<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>La Oliva<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Filming for <span class=\"s1\"><b>The Exterior<\/b><\/span>, the fiction feature debut of director <span class=\"s1\"><b>V\u00edctor Moreno<\/b><\/span> (Tenerife, 1981), concluded this Friday in <span class=\"s1\"><b>Fuerteventura<\/b><\/span>. Since spring, the production team has been working across the island\u2019s striking arid landscapes, which, together with <span class=\"s1\"><b>Las Palmas de Gran Canaria<\/b><\/span>, serve as the setting for this dystopian story about an astronaut stranded in the desert.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Produced by <span class=\"s1\"><b>Womack Studios<\/b><\/span> and <span class=\"s1\"><b>KV Films<\/b><\/span> and starring <span class=\"s1\"><b>Daniela Brown<\/b><\/span>, the film centres on <span class=\"s1\"><b>Ana<\/b><\/span>, a space explorer living at a training base located in a remote and desolate area on Earth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">As part of her preparation for a possible mission to Mars, Ana must undergo an extended period of isolation. However, the intense physical and psychological demands of her training lead her deep into the desert, where she encounters a nomadic shepherd travelling with her goat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Unable to communicate verbally, Ana attempts to find her way back to the base. The shepherd, however, senses that the astronaut is carrying unresolved emotional burdens. As she offers Ana food and water, she guides her into the depths of a cave to take part in a healing ritual that transforms the astronaut\u2019s perception of her own planet and her connection to the cosmos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Nominated for a <span class=\"s1\"><b>Goya Award<\/b><\/span> for <span class=\"s1\"><i>Edificio Espa\u00f1a<\/i><\/span> and winner of a <span class=\"s1\"><b>Feroz Award<\/b><\/span> for <span class=\"s1\"><i>The Hidden City<\/i><\/span>, <span class=\"s1\"><b>V\u00edctor Moreno<\/b><\/span> also wrote the screenplay for <span class=\"s1\"><i>The Exterior<\/i><\/span>. The film explores themes such as loneliness, survival and humanity\u2019s relationship with the natural world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Balancing intimate science fiction with adventure storytelling, the film offers an ironic reflection on humanity\u2019s desire to conquer the universe while often failing to appreciate and understand the world immediately around us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">According to Moreno, bringing <span class=\"s1\"><i>The Exterior<\/i><\/span> to life has been an extraordinary experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">\u201cAfter five years, being able to transform the story that lived in my imagination into images and sound has been incredibly rewarding. I have been fortunate to work with an outstanding technical and artistic team who fully committed themselves to the project. Shooting in chronological order allowed the protagonist\u2019s journey to unfold naturally throughout the production process. It is something I would love to do again, as it benefits both the actors and the crew. Despite the inevitable challenges of filmmaking, I am extremely pleased with the result. We have a very special film on our hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The cast also includes <span class=\"s1\"><b>Rina Ota<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Florentine Behrend<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The technical crew is composed predominantly of professionals from the Canary Islands, including <span class=\"s1\"><b>Silvia S\u00e1nchez<\/b><\/span> as Executive Producer, <span class=\"s1\"><b>Pablo G. Gallego<\/b><\/span> as Director of Photography, <span class=\"s1\"><b>Luna Bengoechea<\/b><\/span> as Production Designer, and <span class=\"s1\"><b>Amanda Villavieja<\/b><\/span> as Head of Sound.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Executive producer <span class=\"s1\"><b>Silvia S\u00e1nchez<\/b><\/span>, from <span class=\"s1\"><b>Womack Studios<\/b><\/span>, described the completion of filming as an emotional milestone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">\u201cIt is incredibly exciting to see how, after five years of hard work, we have turned this film into reality. We still have the post-production process ahead of us, but we are already very happy with the result. From the very beginning, we fell in love with a story that offers a different kind of science fiction, centred on two female protagonists and enriched by the Martian beauty of several locations across the Canary Islands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Catalan actress <span class=\"s1\"><b>Daniela Brown<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> previously starred in <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>The Abbess<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (2024), directed by <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Antonio Chavarr\u00edas<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, and also played a key role in <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>Marco<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> (2024), directed by <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Aitor Arregi<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Jon Gara\u00f1o<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, which won two <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Goya Awards<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The spacecraft featured in the film was constructed on a purpose-built set at <span class=\"s1\"><b>Videoreport Studios<\/b><\/span> in <span class=\"s1\"><b>Gran Canaria<\/b><\/span>, where the scenes depicting the astronaut\u2019s training before entering outer space were filmed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Throughout its development, <span class=\"s1\"><i>The Exterior<\/i><\/span> participated in several prestigious international industry platforms, including <span class=\"s1\"><b>Cinemart Rotterdam<\/b><\/span>, <span class=\"s1\"><b>Venice Gap Financing Market<\/b><\/span>, <span class=\"s1\"><b>MAFIZ<\/b><\/span> (M\u00e1laga Film Festival), <span class=\"s1\"><b>MECAS<\/b><\/span> (Las Palmas International Film Festival) and <span class=\"s1\"><b>Abycine<\/b><\/span>, receiving awards at the latter two events. The project was also selected for the renowned <span class=\"s1\"><b>Torino ScriptLab<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><i>The Exterior<\/i><span class=\"s2\"> is a production by <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Womack Studios<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>KV Films<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, with financial support from the <\/span><span
