Description:
A theoretical and practical course aimed at residents of Fuerteventura who wish to begin or further develop their knowledge of photographic technique, visual language, creativity and the artistic values of photography, while cultivating their own personal voice and style. The skills and concepts covered are also applicable to videography.

Duration: 20 hours

Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Number of Places: 25

Venue: Fuerteventura Training and Conference Centre

Course Dates: 11–15 November

Registration Period: From 23 October 2024 at 8:00 a.m. to 30 October 2024 at 11:50 p.m.

Participants will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to residents of Fuerteventura.

Syllabus:

  1. From Film Photography to Digital Photography
  2. Ethics and Aesthetics in Photography
  3. Light as the Foundation of Image Creation: Natural and Artificial Light
  4. Modern Cameras and Sensors. Colour and Black & White Photography
  5. Photographic Lenses and Their Functionality. Photography Accessories
  6. The Technical Foundations of Photography: ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed
  7. Fundamental Principles: Composition, Depth of Field and Leading Lines
  8. Photojournalism, Documentary Photography, Social Photography, Astrophotography and Advertising Photography
  9. Digital Image Processing and Exporting for Different Media
  10. Practical Photography Sessions

Requirements:
No photographic equipment is required to attend or participate in the course. The organisation will provide cameras and equipment for practical exercises. Participants who own photographic equipment are welcome to bring it with them.

Software:
The course will use the Affinity Photo Suite for image processing and editing, which is currently available free of charge through its official website. Participants may also bring their own devices with Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom, or any other software they normally use in their photographic workflow.
