The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through the Fuerteventura Film Commission, congratulates the island’s educational centres that received awards at the regional level during the 12th edition of Cinedfest, the educational film festival.

Following the island awards gala held at the Fuerteventura Island Auditorium, the regional Canary Islands awards were presented on 18 and 19 June in Tenerife, where several short films from Fuerteventura were nominated across different categories.

In the Early Years and Primary Education Gala, the short film The Club of Lost Words, produced by CEIP María Castrillo García, reached the final stage of the competition and was recognised among the twelve best primary school short films in the Canary Islands.

In the Secondary School and Sixth Form Gala, IES La Oliva received the award for Best Director with its short film No One Can Afford to Rent Here.

In the Vocational Training, Adult Education Centres, Language Schools and Art Schools category, the Fuerteventura School of Art was one of the event’s standout participants. Its short film Match won the award for Best Cinematography, while La Favorita received the award for Best Cine Express Short Film.

The President of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Lola García, and the Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission, Nereida Calero, expressed their appreciation for the outstanding participation of educational centres across the island, helping make this year’s edition of Cinedfest one of the most successful to date.

A total of 400 students from Fuerteventura took part in the programme, gaining experience in audiovisual storytelling and producing their own film projects while competing alongside 440 short films from across the Canary Islands.

They also extended their congratulations to all award-winning schools at both island and regional level, as well as to every participating educational centre.

Information about all gala ceremonies, award winners and participating projects is available on the official Cinedfest website.
