Fuerteventura Schools Begin Filming Their Cinedfest Short Films

Following their initial theoretical training, students from eleven educational centres across the island have begun producing the audiovisual projects they will submit to this year’s edition of Cinedfest, the educational film festival.

A total of eleven schools and secondary education centres in Fuerteventura are currently working on the short films they will enter into this year’s competition. Having completed the introductory training phase, students are now developing their productions while receiving ongoing online guidance throughout the different stages of the filmmaking process.

This year’s participants include primary and secondary school groups from educational centres in the municipalities of Antigua, Puerto del Rosario and La Oliva, as well as students from the Fuerteventura School of Art.

Nereida Calero, Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission, recently visited filming sessions at CEIP Valles de Ortega, accompanied by Matías Peña, Mayor of Antigua.

According to Calero, “this is the fourth consecutive year that the Fuerteventura Film Commission has collaborated with a festival that aims to introduce students to the language of audiovisual storytelling.”

Over several weeks, participants have received basic training covering every stage of audiovisual production, from the initial idea and scriptwriting process through to pre-production, filming and editing. Having completed this first phase, students are now fully engaged in producing their short films, with access to equipment and materials provided by the Fuerteventura Film Commission.
