The 22nd edition of Notodofilmfest has revealed the nominees for the Fuerteventura Natural Film Set Award. The festival committee has selected the following short films for the category: Wroclaw by Alberto Lahoud Hernández, A Particular Day by Stefano Motta, What Giants? by Juan Lorenzo Domínguez, and Senti2 by Dailos Vega.
The Fuerteventura Natural Film Set Award was created by the Fuerteventura Film Commission, directed by Nereida Calero, with the aim of encouraging audiovisual creativity by showcasing the island’s unique landscapes as both a filming location and a source of inspiration for filmmakers.
This year’s nominees were selected by a jury chaired by director, screenwriter and producer Dani de la Orden, alongside executive producer Esther García, screenwriter and producer Guillermo Fesser, actress Iria del Río, and director, screenwriter and festival co-founder Javier Fesser.
The winners will be announced during the festival’s awards ceremony on 16 January at Callao Cinemas in Madrid.
To inspire this year’s category, the festival welcomed acclaimed filmmaker Javier Fesser as its ambassador. As part of his collaboration, he premiered Depredador, his first original Notodoseries production created exclusively for Notodofilmfest.
Told across three episodes, Depredador follows the story of Vilma and Cris, two friends who encounter the unexpected while travelling through a remote and desolate landscape. The cast includes Athenea Mata, Claudia Fesser, Maggie Balance, Pepe Jordana and Elisa Díaz, who bring the characters of this new Películas Pendelton production to life.
