The award was presented by Nereida Calero, Councillor responsible for the Fuerteventura Film Commission, during a ceremony held in Madrid.
The Fuerteventura Natural Film Set Award at this year’s Notodofilmfest was awarded to Alberto Lahoud Hernández for his short film Wroclaw. The prize was presented by Nereida Calero, representative of the Fuerteventura Film Commission, during the festival’s awards gala held at Callao Cinemas in Madrid.
Lahoud Hernández received a cash prize of €1,000 after being selected as the winner from a shortlist that also included What Giants? by Juan Lorenzo Domínguez, SENTI2 by Dailos Vega, and A Particular Day by Stefano Motta.
The winning short film and the nominated entries can be viewed on the official Notodofilmfest website.
A total of eleven short films shot in Fuerteventura were submitted to this category, which places the island at the centre of the competition with the aim of encouraging filmmakers to use Fuerteventura’s unique landscapes as locations for their productions.
According to Nereida Calero, “our island offers unique landscapes that provide the perfect setting for any audiovisual production. Through this award, our goal is to encourage creators and producers to discover Fuerteventura and make the most of the exceptional opportunities it offers as a filming destination.”
The Fuerteventura Film Commission once again joined forces with Notodofilmfest, the renowned online short film festival, for the third edition of this award.
This year’s category was sponsored by acclaimed director and screenwriter Javier Fesser, who premiered exclusively for the festival the original Notodoseries production Depredador. Told across three episodes, the series follows Vilma and Cris, two friends who encounter the unexpected while travelling through a remote and desolate landscape.
The cast is led by Athenea Mata, Claudia Fesser, Maggie Balance, Pepe Jordana and Elisa Díaz, who bring the story’s characters to life in this production by Películas Pendelton.
